Leads research and analysis on uniquely complex topics associated with securities and derivatives, financial markets trading, and technology with an emphasis on systemic risk. The incumbent possesses in-depth subject matter expertise and leads large-scale division projects, builds relationships with highly informed, technically skilled internal and external stakeholders, and lends knowledge to presentations for broad audiences.

The level of work is considered expert level and the incumbent works as an advisor under minimal supervision with broad latitude in a complex environment. This is an individual contributor role that does not have direct reports; may assign work, provide work direction to others, and mentor junior staff.

Your Responsibilities


  • Recognized by peers as expert in the market infrastructures

  • Strategically analyzes developments in securities and derivatives trading, with an emphasis on high-speed trading, algorithmic trading, technology, and regulatory changes that impact trading and markets and/or developments in domestic and international payment systems to arrive at sound, supportable conclusions and anticipate future developments

  • Prepares and delivers persuasive presentations regarding financial markets and payments system issues for various audiences

  • Serves as point of contact with representatives of financial markets trading and technology and/or representatives of payments industry firms

  • Leads on policy issues relating to domestic and international financial markets, maintaining awareness of current and emerging developments within the financial landscape and regulatory climate and providing strategic advice accordingly

  • Participates and presents at the policy group and industry meetings

  • Prepares papers, reports, and detailed articles of industry studies, policy memoranda and other internal and external communications

  • Domestic / international travel approximately up to 10%

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • 7 years of related experience

  • Travel approximately up to 10%

  • This position requires access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents who either are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied for naturalization within the requisite timeframe.   • This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take approximately two months to be completed.
