Reports to: Wedge Linden Hills Co-op Store Director

The Manager on Duty is responsible for ensuring that Wedge Linden Hills Co-op provides an exceptional experience to every customer who walks through our door. They do so by monitoring all aspects of daily co-op operations and coordinating staff across all departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that Wedge Linden Hills Co-op delivers an exceptional experience to every customer every day.
Provide support to store departments when needed.
Redirect & reassign department staff when needed to ensure customer expectations and needs are met by Wedge Linden Hills Co-op.
Become proficient in basic work duties for all store departments.
Assist department staff with customer service.
Conduct regular Store Walks during shift to monitor all aspects of Wedge Linden Hills Co-op operations.
Ensure that the sales floor and exterior areas of the store are always clean and neat.
Assist sales departments in facing, stocking, and other basic duties.
Report chronic department issues to appropriate department leadership and Store Director.
Perform general maintenance: some equipment and fixture repair, shelving installation, display construction, etc.
Monitor refrigeration and other store equipment and recommend repairs and maintenance to Store Director.
Monitor sales floor, backroom, and exterior areas of co-op for potential safety hazards; take immediate action to resolve those hazards.
Ensure store is accessible and safe during weather & other unforeseeable events.
Monitor the sales floor for shoplifters and disorderly customers and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
Assist Store Director in the development & maintenance of store emergency preparedness plans.
Monitor & use store security camera system to help ensure safety of customers and employees.
Share critical information with Store Director and other MODs using Wedge Linden Hills Co-op communication tools.
Participates in department and all-staff meetings.
Makes sound decisions that benefit the customer, other employees, and the Co-op in all situations.
MODs will be required to perform tasks not listed here as assigned by the Store Director.


QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years' experience working in a fast-paced retail environment. Preferred 2+ years' experience directing staff in a retail environment.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service & demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively.
Ability to work independently.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain calm, clear decision making while under pressure.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ability to work with TCCP to create an inclusive environment where all are welcomed.
Preferred experience developing systems and procedures to improve operational efficiency and customer service.
Experience operating Point of Sale software in a fast-paced retail environment.
Experience with natural foods.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk on a sales floor up to four hours at a time.
Ability to perform continuous fine work and gripping with hands.
Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating.
Ability to lift 30 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to work outdoors, sometimes in extreme temperature and weather conditions.
