Bachelor's degree in related field required. Three years of experience investigating, resolving complaints or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education is preferred. Strong skills in the areas of problem solving, interviewing, and report writing preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Performs highly advanced specialist duties.
Investigates complaints filed by students, faculty or staff related to discrimination, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence including stalking, dating or domestic violence, harassment, and/or related retaliation. Develops an investigative plan for complaints in accordance with University policy. Acts as an impartial and unbiased fact-finder to conduct and manage prompt, thorough investigations in accordance with University policy. Gathers evidence, compiles documentation, and prepares reports related to investigations. Meets with complainants, respondents and witnesses, determines credibility, and writes investigative reports summarizing information obtained during the investigation. Writes analytical fact-finding reports that demonstrate clear articulation of facts and supporting evidence. Interprets University policy to apply knowledge of applicable rules, laws, policies and procedures. Maintains accurate and thorough records and notes of the investigatory process. Works continuously with confidential and sensitive, high stress situations. Collaborates and engages in discussion to improve investigatory processes and procedures. Works with the case management database and other computer applications. May also be assigned to conduct intake interviews with complainants, determine interim measures as needed, advise complainants and respondents of grievance procedures. Designs, coordinates, and presents departmental campus-wide training and outreach programs for students, faculty, and staff related to sexual misconduct, and discrimination. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other University departments, personnel, and other agencies. Requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong skills in the areas of problem solving, interviewing, and report writing are critical. Knowledge of Title VII and Title IX is helpful. Interacts effectively with various populations and various departments of the University. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Up to 40% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
