Job Description:

Vertiv Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team. The role will be responsible for designing, programming, and maintaining automated systems in our manufacturing processes. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure our automation projects are completed on time and within budget.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Automation Development:
    • Research, design, and develop manufacturing automation processes to improve production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
    • Program and/or modify PLC logic on new equipment and make necessary repairs.
    • Program and train industrial robots to perform precise and repetitive tasks.
    • Implement and maintain vision systems for quality control and inspection processes.
    • Define and document specifications for new automation equipment and systems.


  • Quoting and Project Planning:
    • Prepare quotes for automation projects and create detailed project plans to ensure successful implementation.


  • Equipment Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Troubleshoot production equipment using mechanical, pneumatic, electromechanical, and hydraulic skills.
    • Install, repair, and rebuild production-related equipment.


  • Preferred - Tool and Die Work:
    • Work from blueprints, sketches, concepts, and verbal instructions to devise and build dies, fixtures, and tooling.
    • Operate all conventional tool room machinery and equipment, with an understanding of CNC equipment operation and concepts.
    • Use precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy in tool and die processes.


  • Technical Guidance:
    • Assist, advise, and instruct less experienced personnel to meet required performance levels in technical and safety aspects.
    • Advise or recommend new or changed methods and equipment to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.


  • Collaboration and Problem Solving:
    • Work with engineers and production departments to resolve problems.
    • Adhere to quality and safety systems, maintaining standards for quality and safety.


  • General Responsibilities:
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and meet production schedules


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of PLC programming, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • History of designing and fabricating one-off assembly aids and assembly equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail.

Education/Experience

  • Associate degree in Machine Tool and Die or Electromechanical Design field or BS in an Engineering field.
  • 0 to 2 of PLC programming or troubleshooting experience.
  • 0 to 2 years of tool and die experience preferred.
  • 0to 2 years of 3D CAD experience

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Light manufacturing
