Job Description

Performs a wide variety of complex operations required to build, repair, rework, and align mechanical and electromechanical components, subassemblies and final assemblies.  Works from assembly methods books, sketches/blueprints, and verbal and written instructions. Critical tolerance requirements, (such as torque, backlash, tension endplay, etc.) must conform to DoD/customer specifications. Performs a variety of operations involving the assembly and/or rework of complex wiring harnesses, subassemblies and final assemblies. Typical duties could include, but would not be limited to, those listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Build, repair, rework and align complex assemblies, such as network or communications racks cable raceways/conduit and unit alignments that require the constant monitoring and maintaining of critical tolerances. Will disassemble, troubleshoot and repair subassemblies to achieve proper alignment for final assembly.
  • Distinguish, identify and correct problems of form, fit or function in assemblies by using specialized techniques and knowledge acquired through a high degree of exposure in building assemblies requiring close physical tolerances.
  • Uses appropriate tools and fixtures to assist with the installation or complete the installation of parts, sub-assemblies, and modifications to include measuring, cutting, fitment, adjusting, drilling, riveting as applicable.
  • Use of various tools such as rivet guns, drills, sanders, grinders, routers and other tooling and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area.


Qualifications

  • Requires a high school education or equivalent and a minimum of 6 months+ of related experience.
  • Must be able to read, write and interpret blueprints and electrical assembly diagrams.
  • Must have basic mechanical skills to maintain equipment.
  • Able to read tape measure and convert from decimals to fractions, read blueprints.
  • Exhibit initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • May be required to wear a company-provided safety harness when working in elevated areas.
  • Must be able to perform all subordinate tasks required to accomplish the above duties and perform other related duties as required.
