The Program Officer will support the management of assigned program(s), the development of project work products, to include but not limited to, program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products/documents as identified and will also be responsible for compliance requirements relevant to assigned work products.

Your Background & Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in international education, international development or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a non-profit or development and/or education-focused organization and/or managing international education programs demonstrating relevant progressive experience, with a focus on exchange programming and/or professional training/development programs.
  • International work or study experience required.
  • Experience with procurement procedures and sub-award management, as well as creating, managing and monitoring budgets.
  • Familiarity with Department of State programs highly preferred.
  • Experience managing data collection and monitoring.
  • Experience working with Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience with managing external communications with different stakeholders.
  • Experience with teacher training programs.
  • Experience with workshop/conference preparation and implementation.
  • Availability to travel domestically, as well as support scheduled program activities in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Proactive and comfortable with contemporary digital platforms for collaboration and communication.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trends in domestic and international education, and capacity to contribute to the delivery of programming that is responsive and relevant to the current global educational landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives with strong ability to anticipate challenges and generate solutions.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member with consistent ability to take the initiative, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, intermediate to advanced skill in Excel.
  • Clear, succinct and compelling communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Very strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Develops and manages extensive work plans and timelines for overlapping award cycles and multiple project activities.
  • Organizes program events and conducts training and site visits.
  • Provides monitoring and evaluation efforts and tracks participant numbers and program indicators and impact.
  • Works with program participants and alumni, tracks success stories and program impact data.
  • Compiles and tracks a wide range of participant information and program data, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop program and workshop materials.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for U.S. Embassies and Fulbright Commissions overseas, where applicable.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for U.S. host universities, where applicable.
  • Draft sections of program proposals and renewals, including quantitative and qualitative data and impact stories where relevant.
  • Coordinate and contribute to quarterly and annual funder reports.
  • Develops reports to funder, survey development and implementation, data collection and processing.
  • Provides oversight of the implementation of subawards with multiple host institutions, where applicable.
  • Coordinates contracts with vendors and consultants for program services, working with managers to ensure compliance in all processes.
  • Supports program publicity and outreach.
  • Represents the interests of IREX's Education Practice both within and outside of the organization.
  • Provides support for financial management of awards, program and event budgets, including budget projections, reconciliation, and monitoring.
  • Supports fiscal and performance activities to be in compliance with IREX policies and procedures and funder regulations.
  • Reviews payment requests and reconciles financial statements with accuracy.
  • Takes leadership role in select aspects of program implementation, as assigned by senior managers.
  • Fosters a positive team culture and working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This fulfilling position offers an anticipated salary range of approximately 57,200 - $70,000.

This position is eligible for Telework. The eligible employee is a regular, full-time DC-based staff who works from a worksite outside the DC office for one or more days a week
