Overview

BRIC assists the National Nuclear Security Administration's Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) in strengthening global efforts to deter, detect, and investigate nuclear and radiological material smuggling by providing expertise, tools, and radiation detection equipment. The International Logistics Expert will directly support the NSDD Management Team in logistics management, bonded and non-bonded warehousing, international storage and shipping regulations, and supply chain systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong initiative, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to consult on shipping and storage logistics in international environments. A proven track record in optimizing supply chain processes is essential.

*This position is contingent upon contract need, anticipated work to start Jan. 2025*

This position works a hybrid schedule that currently requires 3 days per week in the office alongside the customer, with the ability to telework up to the other 2 days per week from an approved location. Hybrid schedule applies upon being granted security clearance. Until cleared, the successful candidate will primarily work remotely, unless requested otherwise.



Responsibilities

  • Become intimately familiar with program stakeholders, processes, and operations
  • Prepare and review logistics reports, providing insights and recommendations to optimize program operations and cost-savings
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of logistics processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions, as well as an analysis of future alternative solutions
  • Evaluate logistics solutions presented to the government by supporting organizations for legitimacy and efficiency (i.e. cost-benefit analysis of land vs. air shipments)
  • Ensure adherence to international shipping regulations and compliance, while coordinating cost-effective and timely logistics operations across regions around the world including the Europe, Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and South Asia.
  • Develop program logistics plans, while identifying and mitigating risk areas throughout the logistics and sustainment process.
  • Inventory Management – support the program with development and oversight of procedures and processes relating to ordering, receiving, storing, tracking and shipment of equipment.
  • Analyze total life cycle sustainment costs, while continuously working to optimize logistics processes and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in resolving emerging issues involving international logistics, shipping, customs, VAT/VAT exemption, and shipping laws and regulations.
  • Develop solutions for excess inventory disposition and reutilization
  • Perform risk assessments across the logistics chain to proactively identify potential disruptions and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of logistics with procurement and successful delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in international supply chain management or logistics
  • Basic understanding of export control laws, including but not limited to International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) and dual use items
  • Proven experience in international logistics operations and familiarity with international shipping regulations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain DOE Q security clearance

Preferred Requirements:

  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS security clearance
  • Applied experience supporting the federal government

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds at times

Travel Requirements:

  • Domestic and international travel up to 15%
