About the Role:

The Director of Business Partners/Employee Relations will lead the BP/ER team, ensuring it serves as a strategic, consultative partner for departments across the Bank in achieving business plans and objectives and that it provides best people practices. This role operates as a collaborative partner that builds and leverages cross-functional relationships to bring together information, ideas, and industry analysis, demonstrating a deep understanding of integrating the People & Culture (P&C) strategy with overall Bank objectives and business area priorities. Success means ensuring the BP/ER team establishes and maintains effective relationships with partners and stakeholders at all levels in the Bank that enable the achievement of the Bank and P&C strategic priorities and align with the Bank’s values.

You Will:


  • As a member of the People & Culture leadership team, the Director, BP/ER will work to build a culture of high performance and inspire a team of diverse and highly engaged business partner and employee relations professionals through leading people practices.

  • Build capability of team members to be strategic consultants and effectively manage employee relations.

  • Work directly and through team members, particularly the HRBPs, to build and implement people strategies and plans that enable success in the business lines aligned with Bank strategy and priorities. In addition, provides counsel to management on employee relations matters. In consultation with the P&C Officer and Employee Relations staff, helps oversee employee relations activity including corrective actions, performance issues, employment issues, grievances, and absence/leave management.

  • Build and enhance capability (e.g. leadership, culture, systems, and processes), and mentor and support team members, to foster a high performing team that achieves the Bank's priorities through the deployment of tailored solutions to address business line needs.

  • Collaborate with P&C and business leaders to ensure leading practices, programs, or processes are proactively implemented to improve employee relations and achieve effective resolution of issues.

  • Consult and partner with P&C groups to influence the development and delivery of solutions to drive successful people practices. In parallel, collate information on business needs through business planning to inform human capital planning and to use as inputs into P&C priorities and strategy. May be required to participate on Bank or System projects and initiatives.

  • Maintain working knowledge of the Bank, business lines, and evolving labor/external market and practices.

  • Stay abreast of labor laws and works closely with attorneys in the organization’s Legal department to mitigate legal risks associated with employee relations matters.

You Have:


  • Bachelors Degree, with Masters strongly preferred, in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification or equivalent preferred.

  • 10 years of Human Resources and 3 years formal people leadership experience or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of Federal and Texas Employment Law Knowledge of how business works and how organizations operate.

  • Understands how to use business intelligence to drive decision making.

  • Ability to develop strategies around workforce planning ,including succession management, compensation planning, etc.

  • Ability to facilitate discussions on sensitive topics

  • Ability to use compelling arguments to influence others and gain support and commitment.

  • Ability to solve unique and complex problems that have broad impact to the business unit/bank.

  • Excellent communications skills - listening, verbal and written.

Notes:

This position may be filled at various levels based on candidate's qualifications as determined by the department.

This role allows for the employee to work in a hybrid manner with some work conducted onsite at the Federal Reserve work location and some work conducted remotely. Specific schedule details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
