Job Description:

The Senior Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations and accounting for assigned projects. This role ensures timely and accurate project financial reporting, budget management, and compliance with company policies and accounting principles. The Senior Project Accountant will work closely with project managers and stakeholders to provide insights and recommendations that improve financial performance.




Key Responsibilities:





  • Project Financial Management:



    • Oversee all financial aspects of multiple projects, from initiation to closeout.

    • Monitor project costs and budgets to ensure they align with approved forecasts.

    • Prepare, review, and distribute accurate project financial reports (e.g., budget vs. actuals).

    • Manage project billing, including ensuring timely invoicing and proper revenue recognition.




  • Budgeting & Forecasting:



    • Assist project managers in developing project budgets and financial forecasts.

    • Provide financial analysis and reports on project performance, including cost variances, profitability, and cash flow.

    • Review project budgets for accuracy and completeness, ensuring they reflect project scope and resources.




  • Compliance & Controls:



    • Ensure project accounting complies with company policies, GAAP, and applicable tax laws.

    • Conduct audits and reviews of project financials to ensure accuracy and compliance.

    • Implement and maintain financial controls over project-related transactions.




  • Collaboration & Communication:



    • Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurate and up-to-date.

    • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.

    • Communicate financial performance and risks to senior management.




  • Month-End/Year-End Close:



    • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation.

    • Ensure timely accruals, deferrals, and adjustments related to projects.




  • Contract Management:



    • Review contracts and agreements to ensure they align with project financial goals.

    • Monitor contract compliance and identify any financial risks or opportunities.






Qualifications:



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Finance in Engineering or Architecture fields

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience
