Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and action-oriented engineer with expertise in mechanical and optical design to join our Advanced Technology team. As an Optomechanical Engineer, you will devise new systems for infrared, Raman, and UV-vis spectroscopy. Your strong background in these areas will drive innovation in optics, imaging, photonics, and precision instrumentation.



Responsibilities:



  • Design and optimize optomechanical spectroscopy and microscopy prototypes with a focus on practical application and functionality.

  • Apply computer-aided design software and optical simulations for robust design evaluation.

  • Conduct structural and thermal analysis to ensure mechanical integrity and stability.

  • Transfer technology and knowledge to interdisciplinary teams for seamless integration into new products.

  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in mechanical and optical design, and apply this knowledge proactively.

  • Document and report on design specifications, test results, and project progress with precision and clarity.

  • Contribute to intellectual property protection through patents.


How will you get there?



  • Master's Degree in physical science (engineering, physics, or computer science) or equivalent.

  • Mastery of mechanical engineering, optics, and physics.

  • Proven experience with FT-IR, laser optics, imaging optics, and materials science.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a lab-based research environment, including using scientific instrumentation and performing data analysis with Python (strongly preferred) or similar tools.

  • Proven ability to handle and organize large volumes of electronic data, information, and spectra. Passion for data collection and analysis.

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, including FEA, motion, and thermal simulations.

  • Experience with Zemax, including optimization and tolerance analysis.

  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Track record of successful product development and technology transfer.
