Job Summary:

The Payroll Analyst conducts thorough analysis and auditing to validate and ensure the integrity and accuracy of payroll processing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervises all activities necessary to process 1 or more payrolls by maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, and preparing special reports for senior management.
  • Administers 401(k) plan contributions and disbursements.
  • Prepares various accounting papers, schedules, exhibits, and summaries including reconciliation of payroll’s general ledger accounts to payroll control documents.
  • Determines the need for new accounts and revisions in the account structure.
  • Ensures accuracy and manages executive compensation transactions in partnership with the compensation team.
  • Researches and advises payroll staff concerning the accounting treatment of complex transactions.
  • Provides policy information and employee specific data to employees in a customer service capacity.
  • May perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors.
  • Conducts payroll staff, employee and manager training and education in formal and casual settings.
  • Interacts with internal department representatives to resolve issues and ensure processes and data exchanges are clear.
  • Contributes toward setting performance standards, financial controls and processes for the group.
  • Recommends process improvements to support efficiencies and/or customer experience.
  • Monitors industry trends, products and information and recommends improvements and/or enhancements to the department.
  • Provides input, evaluation and assessment of performance of other payroll staff.
  • Administers the company’s payroll system and associated interfaces/data feeds/connections to other systems critical to the accurate processing of payroll and reporting.

Skills and Background You’ll Need:

Education:

  • Associates degree
  • FPC or CPP designation preferred.

Experience:

  • 6 years of payroll experience, preferably within a company or corporation of 1000+ employees with multiple entities and multiple states.
  • Experience working in payroll, payroll tax or related compliance functions.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Experience with MSOffice (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and large ERP systems required.
  • Workday experience (highly preferred)
  • Experience analyzing complex transactions, processes or policies and documenting conclusion in memorandums or ad hoc deliverables.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$62,750.00 - $92,000.00
