We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our Athletics Department. This position is responsible for the development, management, and supervision of strength training programs for 20 varsity sports. The ideal candidate will work closely with Head Coaches to design and implement individualized and group training plans that enhance the physical fitness of male and female student-athletes, helping them perform at their highest potential.

The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will manage all aspects of the strength and conditioning programs, ensuring that the training aligns with the goals of each sport and athlete. This role requires a deep understanding of various sports and their physical demands, allowing for the development of sport-specific training regimens. The individual in this role will be viewed as a mentor, educator, and role model by student-athletes, while promoting the philosophy and values of the Athletics program and the college as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Design, implement, and manage individualized and team strength and conditioning programs for 20 varsity sports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Head Coaches to develop training plans that align with the specific physical needs and goals of each sport and athlete.
  • Instruction: Teach and demonstrate proper exercise techniques, ensuring safety, and correcting mistakes to prevent injury.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and track the progress of student-athletes to ensure they are on track with their physical development.
  • Culture Building: Establish a positive and supportive environment where student-athletes view the coach as a mentor and role model.
  • Facility Management: Oversee the Orvis Strength Room, ensuring proper equipment use and maintenance.
  • Compliance: Adhere to departmental, university, and NCAA policies and procedures, supporting the overall philosophy, goals, and mission of the college and Athletic program.
  • Additional Duties: May include overseeing facility operations, managing equipment, staffing and supervision, along with other related tasks.


Job Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certification or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning program
  • Strong understanding of various sports and their physical requirements
  • Ability to develop individualized and team training plans
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Experience
  • *Athletic Training Certification would allow the candidate to also serve in an Athletic Training role with the opportunity to serve as a 12-month employee

Job Details:

  • Full-Time 10-month position with opportunity for 12-months with ATC Certification
  • Salary $46,000 - $54,500 Commensurate with Experience and Certification(s)
  • This position requires flexibility in schedule, as weekend, holiday, early morning, and late evening hours are necessary.
