Domtar is currently seeking a mechanical engineer for our Plymouth, NC Mill. This position reports to the Fiberline Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for providing engineering expertise to resolve problems and implement changes to fiberline and woodyard maintenance by developing project scopes, cost estimates, designing, constructing, engineering, purchasing and modifying existing and/or installing new equipment or processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing capital and major expense projects from conception, design and completion through start-up to ensure quality of design, workmanship and functionality.
Preparing estimates for the capital or major expense budgets and for capital appropriations and major expense work orders that will be used by management in their decision-making process.
Providing engineering support to operations and maintenance personnel and management, including troubleshooting, collecting background information/historic data, replacing and repairing equipment to ensure best possible service from existing systems.
Requirements:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Minimum 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven experience in managing projects
MS Office experience
Preferred Qualifications:
3 to 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Pulp and Paper industry experience preferred
