Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is looking for an Assistant Bridge Inspector to join our Tampa team. You will be responsible for assisting the Inspection Team Leader in the inspection of Transportation Structures in the State of Florida.  Looking for a technical individual, detailed oriented with strong communication skills. Individual must be willing to take direction. This position requires a great deal of outdoor labor including climbing, crawling, wading and other physical activities.

General Duties & Responsibilities: individual will be trained in the following:


  • Basic Bridge and other Structures Inspection processes and condition report preparation.

  • Organize and prepare inspection notes and gather additional information for report creation.

  • Prepare structures inspection reports for submission.

  • Individual will be required to take and convert measurements.

  • Other duties may be assigned, but not limited to:




    • Operate bucket trucks and hand tools.

    • Climb ladders, crawl under limited clearance areas.

    • Traverse slopes, grades, uneven surfaces, and heavily vegetated areas.

    • Basic office duties

    • Maintaining hard copy and digital file folder for different inspection projects.



Qualifications



What you bring to our firm:


  • Valid Florida Driver’s License

  • Reliable transportation to the office

  • High School Diploma.

  • Basic knowledge of computers

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

  • Willing to work outside.

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:


  • Construction or building experience

  • Word and Excel proficiency a plus.

  • Knowledge of Adobe, Paint.net, Print Station, Betterjpeg, and Google Maps.

  • Knowledge of FDOT Mainframe and Bridge Management System.

Work Environment:


  • The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and frequenctly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a bucket truck or a pickup. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
