Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Engineering & Operations to join our team and help lead operational success.  The successful candidate will oversee the planning, implementation, maintenance, and reliability of all technical infrastructure, which includes responsibility for all facets of Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Technology across the Antietam Broadband footprint. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective deployment, maintenance, and optimization of our Fiber and DOCSIS based products, and related technical network infrastructure supporting all customer segments.  Antietam Broadband is a Schurz Communications company and operates a growing fiber network that provides a full suite of residential and business product solutions consisting of high-speed data, internet, video, and voice services --- within the expanding service markets of Washington and Carroll County, Maryland. 

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Hagerstown, MD in office

Rate:  $125,000-$190,000 annually plus bonus

Reporting to:  President & General Manager

Primary Responsibilities Include:


  • Provide direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to the technical operations employees

  • Ensure proper execution of design architecture, deployment, and ongoing maintenance for all technical work in a seamless manner across Outside and Inside Plant infrastructure cohesively aligning all access, core, and field work activities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans that collaboratively unify technical operations groups to meet overall company’s goals and objectives.

  • Operationalize methods & procedures that bring ongoing capital efficiencies on fiber expansion initiatives and other infrastructure investment upgrades. This includes overseeing technical management of best outcome for pole attachment, franchise, and other required Right-of Way matters.

  • Oversee performance by 3rd Party vendors 

  • Monitor and analyze data driven metrics ensuring high-quality network & service reliability, on-time performance, safety, and growth scalability.

  • Manage the technical operations budget, including capital expenditures, operational expenses, and resource allocations.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, with a strong focus on Business Continuity Planning discipline (network security and disaster recovery.)

  • Foster collaboration to most effectively execute innovative solutions and best-in-class strategy streamlining opportunities.

  • Stay abreast with emerging technologies and industry trends to bring continuous improvement ideas that enhance operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and consistently bringing high quality internal and external Net Promoter Scoring.

The successful Senior Director of Engineering & Operations has:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, technology, or related field; and/or successful equivalent technical leadership experience in a similar role, preferably within a fiber industry service provider operator.

  • 10-15 years of progressive technology experience displaying success aligning the various facets of technical operations, engineering, and operational management 

  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory environments and executing best practices to bring most cost-efficient resolutions to franchising, pole attachment, and other Right-of-Way matters that facilitate timely delivery of expansion initiatives.

  • Strong people skills that motivate, inspire, and develop an ongoing high performing cross-functional technical team.

  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to align with business objectives and effectively lead technical team through market driven transitions

  • Financial acumen developing and managing capital & operational budgets while appropriately allocating required resources efficiently.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and metric driven data analytical skills bringing keen attention to detail that delivers operational success towards overall business objectives

  • Cross-Functional collaboration working with other departments, other regional properties, and corporate to ensure cohesive operations with stakeholders across all levels and key stakeholders

  • Ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.

  • A commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs and improving service delivery.
