Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $21.25 - Midpoint: $26.59 (Hourly N6)



Department/Organization: 750801 - Alabama Life Research Institute



Normal Work Schedule: Varies; evening & weekend hours as necessary

Job Summary: The Research Navigator PT provides individualized, ongoing guidance, education, and assistance with completing study requirements on a part-time basis. Provides additional support, information, and resources to the participant based on their personal needs.



Additional Department Summary: The University of Alabama (UA) West Alabama Cardiovascular Health (WACH) Program is designed to improve heart health in our rural communities. The program focuses on addressing social determinants of health and deploying education programming.


This position will take a lead role in recruitment of prenatal and postnatal participants, retention, and data collection and oversee up to two undergraduate researchers. The individual in this position will be supervised by the WACH PI. The position also requires the provision of participant support services to WACH participants and will maintain their own case load of WACH research study participants.


Support services include individualized, ongoing guidance, education, and assistance with completing study requirements including preparation for the collection of data via behavioral assessments. The position also requires providing additional support, information, and resources to the participant based on their personal needs. Data collection tasks include administering and overseeing the self-completion of specific questionnaires by the participant.


This position requires a flexible schedule to meet the research protocol goals. (Ideal for someone familiar with providing support services on a flexible, non-traditional, Monday - Friday schedule).



Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.



Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to travel to community sites as needed. Ability to work flexible hours.


Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.



Skills and Knowledge: Research experience. Experience in large team settings. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). Organized and detail oriented. Ability to work well with others. Familiarity with or comfortability to learn computer programs such as Outlook Office, Excel, Zoom, Webex, and basic data platforms.
