Departmental Objective:

The Freeman Center is the focal point for Christopher Newport University's indoor sport and recreation and health and wellness services and initiatives, while providing a place for the University community to meet and for students to perform. The goal for this facility is to offer an increased edge for our "indoor" athletic teams during Conference and NCAA competition, support the personal development and well-being of the members of the university community, and expand the reach of the University to the local, regional and national spotlight.


Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to the Building Manager of the Freeman Center and Pope Chapel, this position will assist the department with the primary oversite of the student personnel; along with developing and maintaining the various inventory, databases, and technology needs to improve efficiency and effectiveness.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:

Knowledge of office duties and guidelines, procedures, and equipment


Knowledge of When To Work and EMS/V-EMS.


Strong computer skills


Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills


Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holiday


Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams


Ability to provide quality customer service, communicate effectively and exercise independent judgement


Ability to hire, schedule, train and supervise student employees


Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :


Education:
High school graduate or equivalent education and experience that equates to a high school diploma


Valid Driver's License



Experience:


Experience working with computer software or programs


Experience in a college or university setting


Additional Consideration(s):


Preferred:Bachelor's degree in personnel management, psychology, business management or related field, or a combination of educational experience that equates to a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Experience:
Previous supervisory experience


Experience with computer systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Publisher) or equivalent.





Salary Information:

Starting at $35,487, Commensurate with Education and Experience.
