The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lab Manager to lead our team of chemists and technicians. In this role, you will ensure the safe and efficient analysis and processing of hazardous materials, driving innovation and compliance. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of hazardous materials, chemicals, and chemistry knowledge.
Key Job Responsibilities
Foster, uphold, and prioritize a strong culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) throughout the team, ensuring that safety and compliance are integral to all operations.
Lead and mentor a talented team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Oversee all laboratory operations, ensuring accuracy and safety in hazardous waste analysis.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and record-keeping.
Drive continuous improvement in laboratory processes and techniques.
Collaborate with other departments to support our mission of environmental stewardship.
Ensure that laboratory is safe, clean and in compliance per Part B, RCRA Permit.
Oversee all analytical testing including pH, moisture, oxidation, titration as well as daily processing of waste samples including but not limited to: Fuel compatibility, bomb calorimetry, GC analysis, metals analysis.
Provide expertise involving all relevant instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and repair as required.
Ensure that all applicable EPA testing methods and requirements are met.
Proper removal of laboratory-generated wastes.
Maintain adequate lab supplies.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized working area.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in an industrial laboratory setting, with 2+ years in a leadership role
Expertise in hazardous waste management and regulatory compliance
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Willing to work in an industrial setting with limited outside exposure and be willing to handle hazardous and non-hazardous wastes with appropriate PPE
Ability to wear a face respirator as needed
Experience with analytical instrumentation is preferred
