Overview

The Managing Director, Digital Solutions, is the highest-ranking IT Position within ForHealth Consulting, a division of UMass Chan Medical School, and part of the senior leadership team. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic use of technology to support and enhance ForHealth Consulting's business strategy. The Managing Director leads the Digital Healthcare Solutions business unit and oversees the delivery and management of IT across ForHealth Consulting. This includes developing a clear and compelling digital strategy, creating a cost-effective infrastructure, and executing an innovative IT roadmap that leverages emerging technologies to solve complex problems for the most complex problems facing at-risk, medically complex, disabled and economically disadvantaged populations.


 


Collaborating closely with the Executive Vice Chancellor and the Executive Leadership Team, the Managing Director addresses key strategic initiatives like digital disruption, growth and innovation, and cost management. They ensure technology investments align with the strategic goals of UMass Chan Medical School and ForHealth Consulting. Additionally, the role involves managing partnerships with public and private sectors, maintaining IT governance, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The ideal candidate is a seasoned technology strategist with a proven track record in maximizing business value, leading IT teams, and fostering relationships with diverse stakeholders, including federal and state agencies and healthcare organizations. The Managing Director, Digital Solutions will continually evaluate the performance of the technology plan against the strategic plan and recommend and/or implement adjustments. The Managing Director, Digital Solutions will collaborate closely with the UMass Chan Medical S Chief Information Officer (CIO), UMass Chan Medical School IT and Information Security (InfoSec) to ensure that all ForHealth Consulting services are compliant.

Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership


  • Set the strategic direction for technology in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Identify market needs and growth opportunities, conducting SWOT and competitor analysis as needed.
  • Develop and enhance digital solutions in partnership with internal teams and clients.
  • Propose and evaluate strategies, technologies, and solutions to drive growth and client retention.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Executive Vice Chancellor and ELT on sales strategies and new business development.
  • Create and implement short- and long-term technology roadmaps and key performance indicators.


 



Operational Management


  • Lead and drive digital innovation and act as a change agent across the organization
  • Oversee the implementation and operation of Digital solutions for business partners and clients.
  • Support growth and efficiency in ForHealth Consulting IT, leveraging common solutions and improving processes.
  • Develop and enhance organizational structure and staffing to deliver effective IT services.
  • Participate in assessment and evaluation of resources and capabilities across ForHealth Consulting and work with other leaders to recommend/implement changes to improve structure, processes, efficiency and performance metrics or outcomes.
  •  Attract and retain top IT talent nationally, manage staff, and maintain vendor relationships. Monitor IT goals, key performance indicators, and drive technology-enabled improvements.
  • Enhance IT governance, security, and disaster recovery programs to ensure continuity and compliance.
  • Establish and oversee a digital workplace to support of ForHealth Consulting's workforce
  • Develop key performance indicators and annual goals for IT, aligned with ForHealth strategy and priorities.



Communication


  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Represent ForHealth on UMass Chan Medical School IT'S Committee to align IT strategies
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external audiences about technology initiatives and goals.



Financial Management


  • Prepare and manage the annual technology budget, working closely with finance and business unit leaders.
  • Develop and monitor financial performance metrics ROI, and other relevant measures or indicators in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Meet with the ForHealth Consulting Executive Director of Finance and team on a regular basis to review financial performance, budget variance and other relevant metrics.



Other


  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION


  • Master's Level Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Information Technology or related field. Completion of professional level graduate work (MPA, MBA, or MPH) preferred.


REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE


  • 15 + years of progressive experience, or equivalent, in information technology related to health care services.
  • 7 + years of experience in a senior information technology management role, or related consulting role.
  • Experience working in and/or with the public sector and with State Medicaid is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a health care consulting, service or solution organization is preferred.
  • Experience with client management and business development is helpful.
  • Communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, to interact with clients and to produce reports suitable for both a public and private sector audience are additionally required.
