The Program Coordinator for the Climate-Care National Research Traineeship (NRT) will coordinate educational programs and training for NRT Fellows, manage operations and logistics, and assess program and prepare reports.

Job Responsibilities


Administration


Responsible for, but not limited to, functions below as they pertain to providing educational programs and training for NRT Fellows.




  • Coordinate PhD NRT Fellow recruitment and selection with PI and co-PIs (ca. 7 per year)




  • Build pipeline from MSI network and Penn programs such as SEAS Bridge to PhD.




  • Coordinate monthly trainee meetings, including outside speakers (professional development, coordinator led activities (e.g. book club), cohort activities (e.g., lightning talks) with the Education Director




  • Assist the Education Director in managing the Individual Development Plan (IDP) program for trainees.




  • Facilitate Immersive Experience for NRT Fellows




  • Organize education /outreach activities.




  • Provide financial oversight of trainee funds and activities.





Operations, Logistics, Events




  • Attend annual NSF NRT meetings to represent/promote CLIMATE-CARE NRT (typically in June)




  • Attend monthly National Coordinator Meetings (Zoom) to learn and communicate best practices.




  • Coordinate events and activities for NRT, including:




    • Annual Symposium and Independent Advisory Committee Meeting (typically in June or Oct)




    • NRT seminar series






  • Organize and set agenda for bimonthly meetings with the NRT Director and Co-Director




  • Manage communications surrounding NRT include updating website content, producing materials for the CLIMATE-CARE program, and promoting activities to wider NRT co-PIs and the wider Penn community.





Program Assessment and Reporting




  • Gather materials for annual NSF report (Feb-Apr)




  • Manage Engineering Advisory Board annual evaluation and report.




  • Manage dissemination of reports to, and communication with Graduate Deans.





Plan & execute new and ad hoc Initiatives (with Director & Assoc Dir))




  • Seek opportunities to leverage NRT infrastructure




  • Facilitate monthly seminar series led by trainees (yet to start)




  • Support new certificate program and track student's courses.






Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
