Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role


This is a technical presales role with our Enterprise Merchant Services team, operating in the Global Sales organization


You will provide technical discovery, product demos, solution design, and integration support for large enterprise merchants located in the United States and Canada.


This is a hybrid role, with three days per week in a local office expected.

The Enterprise Merchant Services team supports our Enterprise Sales function by providing product expertise, presales consulting, technical support, project management, and onboarding assistance for our largest merchant clients.


Solutions Engineers are product experts that partner closely with Sales to lead technical discovery and design solutions that meet our customers' unique business needs.



Job Description:



The Global Professional Services Organization NA Enterprise Solutions Engineering team is responsible for supporting the technical solution discovery, design and implementation of PayPal's suite of payment and platform capabilities with larger enterprise level merchants. Partnering with the PayPal Enterprise Sales team, you will use your business acumen to support the pre-sales/partnering process through negotiations and solution brainstorming, and your technical acumen to lead the technical design and implementation of a variety of merchant solutions including web and mobile applications, OEMs, browsers, platforms, operating systems and point of sale devices.

Responsibilities


Lead technical solution discovery with larger enterprise level merchants.
Create innovative, customer driven Solution Proposals and Solution Designs utilizing PayPal's suite of API products.
Identify any product/functionality gaps required to deliver a solution and collaborate with internal product and technology teams to define the necessary enhancements to support delivery.
Become a recognized technical expert with the internal product set and in identifying potential solutions for new merchant relationships.
Work closely with internal teams including compliance, privacy, risk, information security, support and operations to ensure all aspects of a proposal are addressed.
Educate the merchants to implement optimal integration strategies, techniques and user experience best practices.
Develop Solution Designs and Solution Design templates that can be used for future integrations with enterprise merchants by other Solutions Engineers and Integration Engineers.
Provide leadership within the team. Mentor junior engineers on solution related issues. Reviews solution design and vet solution proposals for technical viability.
Active participation with PayPal product management teams on product design and roadmap reviews.


Requirements


Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Demonstrable experience with Internet and mobile technologies including Web Services, REST, SOAP, JavaScript, NVP, HTML/HTTP, iOS, Android and leading web and mobile application frameworks.
Demonstrable experience with one or more major programming languages (C++, Objective-C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, .NET, PHP or Python).
Ability to translate business and technical requirements into technical solution design documents.
Ability to successfully interact and dynamically adapt communication styles with all levels of client organizations (C-level executives, middle management, technical and non-technical staff etc.).
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrable experience with MS Office (especially PowerPoint).
Willingness to travel up to 25%, when necessary


Highly Desired (Preferred Experience)


Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Experience with Payments (Credit Card, Banking, Online, Offline), especially with ecommerce systems, payments gateways and payment processors is highly valued.
Experience in Integration Engineering or Professional Services, preferably with large to enterprise-level companies engaged in ecommerce.
