The Unit Secretary provides reception and clerical assistance to a Shepherd Program, taking on special projects as needed. This role allows for interaction and engagement with staff and patients across the continuum to help ensure exceptional patient care, safety, and unit and other services.
The Unit Secretary assists patients and staff as necessary in the applicable program of role assignment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Effectively handles incoming/outgoing phone calls on multiple lines, meeting the needs of callers if possible and directing the caller to the appropriate source when necessary.
Assists in filing, copying and maintenance of medical records.
Obtain consent forms.
Greets visitors and patients in a friendly and considerate manner.
Maintains copier/fax/printer supplies and maintenance.
Maintains cleanliness of reception and common areas.
Schedules procedures at Piedmont as needed.
Calls appropriate Physician, APP & Wound Nurse for Admissions.
Scans into EPIC and On Base.
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent
REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION:
No professional certifications required.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
1 year of previous administrative support experience.
REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS:
Intermediate skills with MS Office
Comfortable in the use of technology systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous administrative support experience in a healthcare setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time or exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
