Days/hours for this position will be Monday - Saturday 5:00 am-2:00 pm (flex as needed)
SUMMARY: Responsibilities will vary from performing one procedure or work instruction to a number of analytical, microbiological, or quality system procedures or work instructions in a Food Safety Laboratory. Precision and accuracy in performance of the work instructions and data collection is essential; must be able to maintain ISO records for process control and comply with quality system and safety requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Performing physical and visual inspections of product and plant systems then documenting and calculating results accurately.
Taking corrective action when necessary (alert appropriate personnel to adjust process; identify, segregate, & isolate non-conforming product)
Understand responsibilities and performs all duties in accordance to USDA, company policy, and established procedures.
All team members are responsible for safety. This includes but is not limited to personal safety and food safety.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer college level courses or degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, and or Physical Sciences: Prefer laboratory experience.
Experience: 1+ year experience in Quality Assurance OR Laboratory type experience in food manufacturing.
Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with management.
Computer Skills: General knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office Applications. Must be proficient on computer data entry and analysis, email communication, and understanding file management.
Training Programs: The training needs for this job classification have been assessed by the appropriate management team member and are listed in the LIMS Training Manager. The amount and level of training required are dependent on the level of responsibility authorized to team members assigned with this job classification. Aside from the minimum required training, training programs may vary from team member to team member.
Special Skills: Must possess skills to complete and review Tyson paperwork; ability to lead by example and motivate the hourly workforce; good problem solving skills; ability to read and interpret product specifications; must function well under stress; must have flexibility to work where and when needed in hot and cold environment.
Managerial Duties: No management duties are associated with this job classification unless specifically authorized by the appropriate management team member responsible for team members assigned with this job classification.
Difficulty of Duties: Work activities are well defined with clearly stated directions or guidelines. Most work steps are clearly prescribed and cannot be modified. Most work duties require repetitive operations.
Physical Requirements: Position involves heavy lifting (50 lbs. or more).
