The salary range of this position is $26.35/hr. for Refrigeration 01 to $37.65/hr. for Refrigeration 08 with a shift increase for second and third shift and overtime. Salary is based on individual knowledge and experience.

Position Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is directly involved with the operation and maintenance of the support systems for a manufacturing facility (Ammonia Refrigeration System, Compressed Air System and Steam System and all related sub-systems). This position is trained as a member of the facility's Hazmat Response Team and is required to meet physical requirements as a member of the Hazmat Response Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operate and maintain ammonia for refrigeration and perform routine preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment
• Make repairs as required to maintain proper food temperatures according to USDA and company standards.
• Maintain ammonia evaporators and their control stations to ensure adequate temperatures in specific areas to meet USDA and company standards
• Maintain ammonia condensers to ensure efficiency and liquid levels in the ammonia vessels remain at the required points which completes the refrigeration cycle.
• Maintain boilers and steam controls to facilitate processing, cooking and sanitation processes based on USDA and production requirements.
• Conduct chemical testing to maintain appropriate levels in the water to allow optimum performance of equipment and to prevent scaling of the tubes.
• Maintain ammonia vessels and liquid pumps to adequately supply ammonia or oil or both to the appropriate areas to ensure that required temperatures are achieved as required per USDA and company production standards.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
• Must be flexible regarding work hours & schedule, overtime required.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to push, pull and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently
• Ability to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
• Ability to work in confined spaces, walk, climb, and stoop
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling
• Basic Math skills: percentages, fractions, and measurements
• Must be able to work weekends and overtime
• Position will require Lock Out Tag Out certification
• Position will require Personal Protection Equipment
• Frequent overhead work
• Temperature ranges from 40-75 degrees
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of ammonia/mechanic work experience or be a graduate of a refrigeration/maintenance training program
• Electrical experience preferred
