Sr. Manager of Data Engineering - Direct Hire Position



Location: Bloomington, MN


Compensation: Up to $160,000 annually


Work Schedule: On-site Monday through Thursday, remote on Fridays


Eligibility: Candidates must be local to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area and must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.


Our customer, a leading data solutions company specializing in next-gen business analytics tools, is seeking a Sr. Manager of Data Engineering to join their team.


The Role:



As the Sr. Manager of Data Engineering, you will leverage your leadership and technical expertise to build and lead a high-performing team of data engineers. You'll be responsible for driving innovation, developing scalable data pipelines, and ensuring high productivity and reliability within the team. You will work closely with other leaders and departments to meet KPIs and deliver best-in-class data solutions.


Responsibilities:



  • Lead, hire, and retain top talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and client service.

  • Design and develop high-performance, scalable data engineering pipelines.

  • Set and track team goals for integration productivity and reliability.

  • Build resilient, reliable, scalable, automated data solutions with appropriate monitoring and alerting mechanisms.

  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and recognition to team members, promoting career growth and team development.

  • Oversee an on-call support rotation to ensure continuous operational success.

  • Knowledge of financial and operational business data.

  • Solution-oriented with a passion for solving problems and taking ownership of the data engineering function.

  • Experience in debugging, support, data analysis, with excellent problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:



  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, MIS, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in data integration/engineering.

  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing teams.

  • Expertise in ETL/ELT data ingestion patterns and a wide array of data sources and toolsets.

  • Solid understanding of data engineering design patterns, algorithms, schemas, queries, and system design.

  • Experience with modern software engineering tools, including Agile/SAFE, CI/CD, and DevOps.

  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud PaaS data services, preferably Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL, and Data Lake.

  • Significant experience working with large data systems using T-SQL and/or Python.
