Summary
The Specialist, B2C Content, plays a crucial role in our Newsroom function within the Content Team. This role is specifically tailored for a strategic-minded individual with a flair for creating compelling content that not only informs and engages but also attracts prospective customers into SHRM's ecosystem at the top of the buying funnel. As a key player in our content strategy development, you will leverage your expertise to craft content that speaks directly to SHRM’s strategic audiences’ needs, industry trends, and organizational goals, thereby driving deeper engagement and conversion across SHRM's platforms. Reporting to the Director, B2C Content, the specialist will play a pivotal role in our mission to shape the future of HR.
Key Responsibilities
Thought Leadership Content Creation (50%): Develop and execute a strategic content plan that positions SHRM as the go-to source for HR thought leadership, trend analysis, and strategic insights.
HR Quarterly Content Creation (50%): Working closely with Managing Editor of HR Quarterly and Director, B2C Content, contribute ample content for each magazine issue and serve as a first- and second-line editor for other magazine content.
Strategic Content Planning: Identify key topics and trends that resonate with HR professionals and leaders, planning and producing content that supports their needs and challenges.
Engagement and Growth: Leverage content to deepen engagement with HR professionals and leaders, employing innovative tactics to expand our audience and reinforce SHRM's position in the HR community.
Collaboration and Influence: Work closely with SHRM's leadership, research teams, and external experts to ensure content is authoritative, timely, and impactful.
Analytics and Adaptation: Utilize analytics to measure content performance, making data-driven decisions to continually refine and enhance content strategy.
Key Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements (KSAOs)
Knowledge:
Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Understanding of HR practices, leadership development, and the challenges facing today’s HR professionals and leaders.
Minimum of three years of experience creating content, with a focus on career development and/or learning and development.
Understanding of best practices and production of both print publications and digital content.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong writing and editing skills, able to produce clear and engaging content.
Familiar with digital media tools and content management systems (Adobe Experience Manager a plus).
Keen interest in storytelling and business topics.
Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, capable of crafting content strategies based on complex audience insights and industry trends.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks.
Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing priorities.

The hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $83,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
