The Design Director drives the overall visual impact for the YETI brand. The ideal candidate must be ready & able to bring big ideas, provide a strategic perspective, and act as an evangelist for innovative, modern, premium, and brand-defining creative. This role reports to the Executive Creative Director of YETI's award-winning Creative Studio and partners with leaders across the organization to give conceptual brand work visual life.


This is a unique opportunity to foster a culture of creativity and be at the forefront of a growing team at YETI. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the brand, activate brand strategies, and be an influential leader for a team of high-performing brand designers. You will encourage excellence and drive high standards for projects across a variety of touchpoints, including marketing campaigns, branded goods, editorial stories, apparel graphics, and packaging. You will have a natural ability to attract and inspire creative talent. Helping them reach their full creative potential by taking an active role in the creative process, offering insights and creative direction to help elevate their work. On occasion, you will guide with a "hands-on" approach and help coordinate work with agencies as well as external creative partners.


This position is based in Austin, TX with a hybrid working schedule, Tue-Thurs in the office.



Responsibilities:



  • Champion YETI's brand in support of the overall marketing vision and business needs.

  • Manage the Brand Design team, providing inspiration, guidance, support, and creative direction.

  • Deliver end-to-end creative concepts across marketing campaigns, branded goods, editorial stories, apparel graphics, and packaging.

  • Encourage excellence by promoting a high-performance fun environment, a strong sense of urgency, quality standards, creative exploration, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Collaborate effectively as a creative partner with internal cross-functional business partners, stakeholders, and outside agencies/partners.

  • Share best practices and innovative creative solutions with a continuous pulse on the outdoors industry and current trends.

  • Foster opportunities for individual development, performance management, and recognition.

  • Participate in resourcing with the Marketing Operations team which includes planning for upcoming projects, adjusting resources as necessary on current projects, and focusing team efforts to ensure efficiency and prioritization.

  • Participate in recruiting and hiring efforts for the Creative Studio which includes proactively identifying and bringing in talent, working with the Talent Acquisition team supporting the interview process efficiently and contributing to sound hiring decisions.

  • Continuously promote and evolve the Brand Style Guide to drive brand consistency across channels.




Qualifications and Attributes:



  • Minimum 8+ years of agency or in-house creative team experience.

  • Bachelor/Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Successful track record leading a design team; able to delegate, coach, mentor and provide effective direction and feedback.

  • A strong portfolio of relevant work, with a focus on graphic art and illustration.

  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad array of areas including marketing campaigns, print advertising, editorial design, apparel graphics, and packaging.

  • Expertise in managing external partners, agencies, and freelancers.

  • Self-driven leader able to work in a fast moving, ever-changing cross-functional team environment.

  • Highly organized with good project management skills. Able to juggle multiple, and sometimes, conflicting priorities and needs.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Skilled in Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, as well as Microsoft Suite.

  • Proactive in nature and driven to act with a sense of urgency.

  • A global mind-set with a passion for the outdoors.

  • Strong collaboration and influence skills; able to build effective relationships with stakeholders across organizational levels.

  • Optimistic, energetic and naturally brings the fun to the office.
