Role/ Department:

The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for organizing multiple projects and workstreams into a coherent and holistic program to modernize the data product delivery capability of Northern Trust's Asset Servicing business unit. The NTAS Data Modernization Program Manager will coordinate with Program Managers and Product Managers from other business units, the Enterprise Data Modernization Program, and Chief Data Officers.

Responsibilities include delivery of strategic outcomes that require data as a critical component for success, aligning resources, overseeing the budget, creating project plans, tracking key milestones/risks/dependencies, and managing executive-level stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Execution of the data modernization strategy for the Northern Trust Asset Servicing business unit

  • Implementation of complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines, ambiguous issues, and federated delivery teams

  • Cross-functional communication, liaising with business and technology to improve efficiency, effectiveness and data product delivery

  • Communication of program objectives; risks; issues and overall status to multiple levels of the organization

  • Facilitation of cross discipline coordination to drive decision making regarding scope; prioritization and issue resolution.

Skills/ Qualifications:


  • Focus on outcomes over output

  • Seasoned expert with program/project management expertise that has been developed over 10 years of experience.

  • Technical and/or business knowledge developed through previous industry experience

  • Experience with product development and coordination with product management organizations

  • Past experience working with data

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

  • In-depth Functional; Technical and/or Industry Knowledge

  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change and experience supporting multiple project management frameworks, and the ability to tailor the approach

  • Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the Program's goals, structure, budget and resource needs

  • People Management skills to assess and develop the skills of staff

  • Team work skills to drive execution without direct reporting line responsibilities.

Nice to have, but not required:


  • Experience with Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools to analyze data; and PowerPoint or PowerBI skills to present a coherent narrative from the data

  • PMP, CSM, PSM, CSPO, or similar certification or clear articulation of equivalent experience

  • Experience supporting product development efforts

  • Experience working with data

  • Experience working with Azure

  • Experience managing agile, waterfall or hybrid projects

  • Experience with the following: Confluence, Jira, GitLab, Github, Azure DevOps and Miro.
