About the Job:
  • The Principal System engineer oversees Digital program quality engineering and integration solution testing for major projects and releases.
  • This role requires expertise in testing principles, test architecture, and test phases.
  • Liaises with leadership, delivery leads and business stakeholders, ensures adherence to SLAs, monitors test design and execution, delivers regular status reports and represents quality engineering teams in meetings and communications.
  • Responsible for understanding and managing Digital program health, collaborating across testing and delivery teams and various testing phases, and addressing complex issues.
  • Responsible for translating business requirements and technical solutions into test strategies and detailed test plans.
  • Leads and supports team members to streamline processes, works closely with automation and performance leads for continuous delivery and management, and drives improvements in QA practices to enhance the customer experience.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the overall Digital program testing for major projects and releases
  • Acts as the quality engineering single point of contact for leadership and delivery/business teams for major programs
  • Responsible for having an overall understanding of the program's health and representing quality engineering team on program meetings and communications
  • Understands the program from all QA aspects, including system architecture and customer journeys, to deliver an excellent user experience
  • Possesses expert knowledge of testing principles, including what, where, and how (environment, data, testing phases needed)
  • Collaborates across multiple testing phases to successfully complete high visibility projects through entire development lifecycle
  • Drives critical programs from environment configuration, defect resolution, and assists with resolving complex issues by proposing solutions or escalating to appropriate channels
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on product flows, test architecture, and identifies potential issues and gaps early in the project lifecycle
  • Provides business context and insights, optimizes processes, provides clear and consistent priorities, and communicates plans and requirements effectively
  • Monitors test design and execution, and delivers regular reports that provide qualitative and quantitative detailed status


Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in in the software quality field including prior hands-on quality engineering experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in leading and managing QA resources
• Experience working in Agile development delivery model
• Experience with API testing and API testing tools e.g. Postman, SOAP UI
• Understanding of multi-tier web application architecture and micro-service technologies.
• Experience in writing automation scripts using Java, TestNG, Selenium
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including requirements analysis and basic application architecture knowledge.
• Familiarity with entire software development life cycle and test cycles (Unit, Systems, Progression, Regression, Integrated/End-to-End, Systems, Performance / Volume, User Acceptance).
• Detailed and effective verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized, detail oriented, extremely responsive and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Self-motivated, works well independently and as part of a team.

Job Contribution:

Education:

Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Typically requires 8-10 years experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

Our Principal System Engineering, earns between $158,200.00-$237,400.00 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
