The University of Chicago's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank with expertise in orthopaedic trauma surgery. Appointees will have inpatient and outpatient responsibilities in the context of a career in academic medicine. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent on qualifications.


Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery, and 4) have completed an ACGME-approved orthopaedic surgery residency or its equivalent.


We especially welcome applicants who have completed an ACGME-approved fellowship or its equivalent in an area directly relevant to the specialization.


Appointees may have the opportunity to direct the orthopaedic trauma team by providing strategic and operational leadership of the trauma group's clinical, scholarly, and educational initiatives and serving as the representative on relevant institutional committees. Therefore, prior leadership and operational experience, strategic work, participation in leadership development programs, and scholarly program development will be valued.
