Position Details:


Summary of Duties:


This person will work within the Western Wheat Quality Lab and is responsible for performing research based milling and baking for end-use quality testing for wheat and flour. This position is also responsible for performing mixograph testing and analyses to be used in identification and research of dough characteristics as well as assist with other tests as requested.




Work in the position typically requires the successful candidate to be on their feet for a majority of their scheduled work time.





Required Qualifications:




  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.




  • Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.




  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of cereal chemistry.




  • Ability to understand and relate the significance of the results to the enhancement of wheat quality.




  • Experience with a 10-g Mixograph and standardized cookie, bread, and sponge cake baking experiment.




  • Must have, or able to obtain, a valid driver's license by time of hire.







Preferred Qualifications:




  • Masters degree




  • One year experience in relevant research field of study

Monthly Salary:




$3,379.14 - $4,862.67



Selected candidates are typically hired between the minimum and midpoint of the listed range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.



In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
