Structures Mechanic II- D




Merritt Island, FL




Contract Position




Responsibilities:




  • Manufacture, assemble, and test New Glenn (GS1) First and Second Stage structures.


  • Set up new production areas, including tooling and equipment for aerospace manufacturing.


  • Support production transition by assisting with first articles and development-to-production shifts.


  • Perform inspections of hardware against engineering models, drawings, and specifications.


  • Troubleshoot and repair structural malfunctions by performing modifications, rework, and maintenance.


  • Implement corrective actions through root cause analysis for long-term issue prevention.


  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, cranes, aerial lifts, and subassembly transportation tools.


  • Use precision tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and optical instruments to ensure assembly quality.


  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance area safety and efficiency.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in line with 5S, FOD, and ESD standards.

  • Work off-shift, extended hours, or weekends as necessary.


Qualifications:




  • Experience: 5-10 years in aerospace manufacturing and structures (sheet metal).


  • Skills: Proficiency in drilling aluminum, composite, and titanium structures (primary or secondary structures).


  • Technical: Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, and specifications, and understand work instructions and procedures.


  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights, lift items up to 35 lbs, and work in confined areas.


  • Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted under refugee or asylum status.


  • Basic Digital Literacy: Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Industry certification, trade school training, or Airframe License.

    • Hands-on leadership experience in technical settings.

    • Experience in handling and assembling large aerospace structures with tight tolerances.

    • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.

    • Experience in new product introduction and a Lean Manufacturing environment.

    • Military experience.

    • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
