Structured Cabling Estimator

The Structured Cabling Estimator works closely with our sales team and high-profile clients, technology consultants, general contractors, manufacturing reps, and distribution teams to design and estimate state-of-art structured cabling and network infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Create and communicate complex scopes of work that are accurate, detailed, and minimize risk
• Develop labor estimates across all disciplines to ensure project profitability
• Assist the sales team by attending site-walk and pre-bid meetings; track all site visits and keep detailed information of site conditions for use in the development of accurate cost estimates/bills of material
• Evaluate bid documents and make bid strategy suggestions; generate RFIs as necessary
• Coordinate with vendors to obtain the best solution, most competitive price, and proper lead time on materials
• Create equipment lists to meet design requirements, including all miscellaneous materials and cabling
• Provide accurate takeoffs and cost estimates per TIA industry standards and BICSI best practices, including input from the Company's technical staff
• Ensure that all estimating work meets all customer and company quality and safety standards
• Meet bid schedules and deadlines
• Stay up to date with new technologies and continued training while working on new industry certifications
• Act as liaison between Estimating, Project Management and Operations after project is awarded; assist in hand-off meetings and ensure our work meets the expectations of the design and scope of work

Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years estimating experience, including previous experience estimating low-voltage systems and use of custom estimating tools or estimating software packages
• Demonstrated knowledge of cabling standards (TIA/BICSI) and structured cabling components
• Ability to read prints and specifications and demonstrated skill in writing detailed scopes of work
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude
• Ability to manage multiple projects/estimates and present a high level of organization
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications/Experience
• Associates or bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Ability to estimate AV, Security, GPON, DAS, Public Safety and POE Lighting
• BICSI certifications; manufacturer certifications
• OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Accu-Bid ICT

Work Environment
This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May occasionally require business travel.
