The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for driving improvements within Thermo Fisher Scientific and our supply-chain. The primary focus is to work with our key suppliers to ensure product quality. The SQE will implement and lead continuous improvement programs coordinating with our suppliers' Senior and Executive management. The SQE uses data analysis, quality tools, project management, and leadership skills to drive ongoing, measurable improvements in supplier product quality. Key interactions will be with Suppliers, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Product Engineering and Global Technical Support.
Report results of these programs to executive management (e.g: Q&R lead, DLT members...).
Lead critical quality issues as assigned.
Investigate and define actions on identified quality issues with supplier modules / systems.
Implement quality improvement actions and monitor the effectiveness.
Create, maintain and improve Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures related to supplier quality improvement programs.
Proven experience participating in technical projects.
Proven experience with process improvements and methods. Experience with the use of statistical process control and statistical problem-solving methods, including Six-Sigma methods, is preferred.
Proven skills on providing clear and concise analysis of data and basic experimental methods.
Self-starter who is also highly productive with limited supervision.
Must function as a productive team member.
The Competencies
This position is ideal for a self-directed, confident, analytical, people person. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
Bachelor's or Master degree in a technical field such as Quality, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and 5+ years meaningful work experience.
Able and comfortable with reviewing supplier performance and motivating change with supplier executive management teams.
Demonstrated results in improving quality in manufacturing processes or with supply chains
Proven ability to lead complex, Multi-site and international projects.
Experienced with Supply Chain Management processes in a sophisticated, high tech and low volumes industry.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean or 6-sigma) is preferred), auditing experience (leading internal or supplier audits), and statistical methods.
Must exhibit strong personal moral and ethics code, proactive, overall positive personality, and creativity in solving various complex situations in technical and social areas.
Must demonstrate good communications skills and be able to work effectively with multi-functional teams on projects including international and multicultural teams at suppliers and our customers.
Able to adjust working times to accommodate communications with other facilities, suppliers, and locations globally.
Travel regionally, internationally and be willing to travel up to 35%.
