Summary

SHRM is seeking a creative and experienced Lead Web Designer to drive the design and user experience of SHRM’s digital properties. As the Lead Web Designer, you will spearhead the creation of intuitive, visually appealing, and high-performing web designs, ensuring that all SHRM web properties reflect our brand values and provide an optimal user experience. This role will involve working closely with stakeholders across marketing, content, IT, and product teams to create cohesive designs that engage SHRM’s audience while optimizing for accessibility, usability, and conversions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end design process for SHRM’s web properties, ensuring alignment with brand identity and user experience best practices.
  • Create intuitive, user-centered web layouts, wireframes, and prototypes that provide seamless experiences across all devices.
  • Present design concepts and revisions to stakeholders, incorporating feedback while maintaining project deadlines.
  • Ensure all designs meet web standards for responsiveness, mobile optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Optimize designs based on user feedback, A/B testing, and web performance metrics such as engagement and conversion rates.
  • Develop custom visual content like icons, graphics, and interactive elements to enhance web page design and engagement.
  • Oversee the design QA process, ensuring web pages maintain visual integrity across devices and browsers.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest design trends and best practices, incorporating them into SHRM’s web design strategy.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with web design, mobile design, and content management systems.
  • Experience working in a team environment, where collaboration and positive working relationships are a priority.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in modern web design, user interface (UI), and user experience (UX) principles.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Figma, Sketch, or similar software.
  • Deep understanding of HTML/CSS, responsive design principles, and web accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools like InVision or Figma.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and lead discussions with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality designs that align with both user needs and business goals.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple design projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
  • Experience conducting user testing, A/B testing, and analyzing web analytics for design optimization.

The hiring range for this position is $93,000 to $115,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
