Job Description:

Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Associates join the Complex Infrastructure Systems Group at Princeton University, focusing on the development of novel methodologies for modeling and analyzing spatially embedded networks. This project aims to advance the understanding of infrastructure systems by leveraging spatial networks to capture complex interdependencies, optimize network performance, and enhance resilience. As part of our team, you will engage in a multidisciplinary research area that intersects network science, spatial data analysis, uncertainty quantification, and real-world applications in urban and infrastructure systems. Position Overview: As a key member of our team, your responsibilities will focus on the development and analysis of spatially embedded network models tailored to infrastructure systems. This will include innovating in the modeling of spatial networks, developing advanced algorithms for network optimization, and incorporating uncertainty quantification to improve network robustness. You will design, test, and refine novel methods aimed at understanding the spatial and topological properties of infrastructure networks, with the ultimate goal of enhancing their efficiency, resilience, and adaptability. Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position will hold a Ph.D. in Network Science, Applied Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a closely related field, with a strong focus on spatially embedded networks, complex systems, or infrastructure networks. Demonstrable expertise in the development and application of network models, particularly in relation to spatial networks, optimization, and uncertainty quantification, is required. Strong programming skills in Python, along with proficiency in network analysis libraries and relevant modeling tools, are necessary. Knowledge of spatial data analysis, graph theory, and infrastructure systems will be viewed favorably. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, are essential. A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields will be advantageous. The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. A preferred start will be in Spring 2025, but starting date is negotiable. Interested candidates should submit an application online at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/36742.
