Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Construction to lead our construction projects in the education and municipal sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of educational and municipal construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Oversee all construction activities for education and municipal projects.
Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.
Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure project success.
Project Planning, Budget and Execution:
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans and schedules.
Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary.
Develop and manage project budgets.
Ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior management.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, government officials, and other stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on project status and address any concerns or issues.
Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure project success.
Regularly update clients on project progress, addressing any concerns or changes promptly.
Foster strong, long-term relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.
Maintain open lines of communication with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Stay informed about changes in regulations and ensure projects comply with all legal requirements.
Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss project status, challenges, and solutions.
Promote a collaborative work environment to enhance team performance and morale.
Subcontractors and Suppliers:
Select and manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance, addressing any issues that arise.
Community and Public Relations:
Engage with the local community to address any concerns related to construction activities.
Represent the company at public meetings and forums, providing updates on project progress and impact.
Communicate with financial stakeholders, including investors and lenders, to provide updates on project financials.
Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
Ensure transparency and accountability in all financial dealings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven experience managing education and municipal construction projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
