The Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) program is aimed at delivering mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services to severely impaired individuals who suffer without access to essential treatment. The Clinician II will conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate individual needs and recommend appropriate treatment options for clients.

How will I contribute
Perform thorough mental health assessments to develop a clinical understanding of individual needs and provide treatment recommendations. Make clinical judgments regarding the need for potential 5150/5585 placements for individuals at risk of danger to self (DTS), danger to others (DTO), or gravely disabled (GD), and create safety plans as necessary. Facilitate appropriate referrals and provide case management and aftercare services as assigned. Stay informed about community resources to enhance service delivery and support clients effectively. Assist in de-escalation efforts aimed at crisis stabilization and support hospital and jail diversion when appropriate. Evaluate and assess the severity of behavioral health symptoms to guide treatment planning. Complete all required program documentation within established timeframes. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, outside agencies, and medical health homes to provide behavioral health consultation. Maintain accurate clinical records of services provided in compliance with agency, COA, HIPAA, CCBHC, and CalAIMS standards, ensuring timely documentation. Complete provider enrollment forms and reports required by third-party payers or other external entities promptly. Promote the agencys mission, services, workshops, and classes to the community. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall mission of the CARE program. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program. May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff may be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible.

What I bring
Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related Current BBS license in good standing in the State of California. Licensure as LMFT, LCSW, LPCC. Class C Driving License 3 years experience providing crisis services or mental health services for the severely mentally ill or co-occurring consumers. Must have a National Provider Identification (NPI) number or obtain an NPI number prior to start date. Must have clean driving record as Clinicians may be required to drive company vehicles to assigned locations and consumers homes. Knowledge of privacy health information protocols, records management. Working knowledge of community and hospital resources. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft TEAMS and Internet access. Ability to quickly develop rapport with individuals to resolve crisis situations. Ability to assess individuals potential for dangerousness to self, others and/or grave disability. Ability to make a differential diagnosis between substance abuse and psychiatric emergencies. Ability to appropriately and immediately document client interactions. Ability to utilize computer technology and electronic health record Must possess independent clinical judgment and the ability to critically assess a situation for risk and response. Strong communication skills and knowledge of crisis intervention, behavioral health and risk assessment. Substance Abuse clinical experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
