Holland Hall was established in 1922 and currently serves approximately 1,000 preK through 12th grade students in a coeducational setting. Holland Hall seeks an experienced, full-time Major Gifts Officer. The Major Gifts Officer is an integral part of the Advancement department and reports to the Director of Development. The Advancement department is responsible for creating a culture of philanthropy and spearheading community engagement; activities include cultivating and stewarding donors, identifying and soliciting prospects, alumni relations, and community events. The primary goal of the Major Gifts Officer is to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership, major and planned gifts from a variety of donors and prospects to strengthen the financial resources of the School.
Job Duties
Manages and builds a personal portfolio of 60-75 major donors and donor prospects capable of making cash and/or planned gifts of $100,000 and above:
Conducts no fewer than 35 individual qualification meetings per year
Conducts no fewer than 50 individual cultivation and stewardship meetings per year
Submits no fewer than 5 major gift proposals per year
Builds relationships with donors with the goals of strengthening their affiliation with and support of the School.
Documents all work with prospects accurately and quickly in the advancement database
Collaborates with and supports the Director of Development with the execution of annual operating plan for achievement of major and planned giving goals
Prepares and staffs Advancement staff colleagues and fundraising volunteers on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship visits
In partnership with the Director of Donor Relations and Annual Giving and the Director of Alumni and Family Engagement, identifies constituents for potential addition to the major and/or planned gifts pipeline
Participates in Advancement stewardship and fundraising events as needed
Collaborates with Advancement staff colleagues to ensure the effective development of strong relationships among constituents and between constituents and the School, education of constituents about why philanthropic support is necessary and warranted, and communication of the School’s appreciation for and impact of contributions made by donors
Understands and promotes best practices in independent school fundraising, including CASE’s Statement of Ethics and Principles of Practice for Fundraising Professionals at Educational Institutions and AFP’s Code of Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a major gifts role.
Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts.
Passion for fundraising and building strong relationships with donors.
Proficient with the Google Suite of products and Microsoft Word and Excel.
PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE DESIRED
Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience in planned giving.
Independent school, college or university experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Advancement department hours are 8:00 to 4:30 with 30 minutes for lunch, however, the time required to perform this job may extend to hours outside department hours to include occasional evenings.
Primarily works indoors in standard office conditions and climate.
Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events.
Works in a fast-paced, supportive environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
