The EHS Specialist will support the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, policies and training. This role will provide support to Bioventus personnel to maintain compliance with facility and corporate EHS policies, regulations and best management practices. This individual will be a key person in driving the safety culture at the Bioventus Memphis Operations Campus and, at the direction of the Director, will support the coordination of EHS programs at other Bioventus facilities globally.What you'll be doing


  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for environmental protection and worker health/safety.

  • Maintain EHS records, including implementing and updating site procedures; utilize software systems, including Smartsolve, for document management.

  • Develop and deliver site training on EHS programs

  • Conduct risk assessments/job safety analyses, and coordinate implementation of hazard controls

  • Provide input to site management and operations leadership on managing EHS risks.

  • Coordinate injury/illness tracking and root cause analysis investigations; coordinate with HR on case management.

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to complete various tasks related to EHS programs (i.e. contractor safety training, waste pickups, etc.)

  • Lead site safety committee meetings and engage committee members to drive EHS improvements.

  • Maintain chemical inventory and SDS files at each facility

  • Implement/conduct EHS inspections to identify safety hazards and environmental issues.

  • Implement EHS corrective actions and processes to follow up on compliance issues.

  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and establish environmental objectives at the site level

  • Collect data for environmental impact areas and track environmental performance to established KPIs.

  • Actively participate in the Bioventus Sustainability Task Force and be a key contributor to reducing environmental impacts within operations

  • Holds oneself and others accountable to conduct business in a manner compliant with Bioventus' Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies and procedures and internal controls applicable to their role.

  • Travel: Up to 25%

What you'll bring to the table

  • B.S./B.A in environmental science, engineering, safety or related field preferred. Minimum of an Associate degree required.

  • 3-5 years experience in the EHS field, preferably in a manufacturing setting. Experience in healthcare manufacturing a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and programs in a manufacturing setting.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT systems

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) to a wide variety of stakeholders including shop floor associates, engineering and management.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to operations at the facility level.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and establish priorities
