Overview:

The position provides a practical introduction to the investment, merchandising, management, and forecasting of retail real estate. The Financial Asset Management (“FAM”) intern will assist the FAM team with various projects over the multi-week program with a focus on asset management, redevelopment, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning related to a large portfolio of retail shopping centers.

Responsibilities:

• Learn to navigate Argus Enterprise and to input accurate leasing assumptions used for forecasting & budgeting, as well as guidance provided to Wall Street
• Assist the Leasing Team with a lease scenario analysis to determine which potential deal is a better economic and qualitative option
• Create a redevelopment analysis to be presented to the Investment Committee in an effort to gain approval for a project that is under consideration
• Analyze a Brixmor asset to understand the submarket, the competing retail centers, the economic drivers, and other macro trends
• Participate in regular regional conference calls that helps the teams in the field communicate important information to the FAM team (leasing, collections, construction, accounting results, etc.)

Qualifications:

• Interested in a career in commercial real estate
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Takes ownership of projects and sees them through to the finish
• Appreciates collaborative work environments where solutions can be debated in an effort to arrive at the optimal decision
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

The hourly rate for this position is $25 per hour.
