Job Summary:

The Plant Manager will oversee all plant operations at the precast concrete plant. This role is responsible for managing multiple department managers who supervise production across three shifts, ensuring that all production processes and plant operations run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulations. The Plant Manager is accountable for managing hourly production labor personnel, maintaining plant infrastructure, Facilitate site maintenance, ensuring environmental compliance, and driving cultural alignment with the values of The Peckham Way.


Essential Functions:

1. Oversee department managers responsible for production operations across all shifts.

2. Lead personnel management for hourly production employees, including hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions by working through department managers and in conjunction with human resources

3. Ensure optimal performance of plant infrastructure and lead maintenance efforts to avoid disruptions in production.

4. Develop and maintain a capital improvement plan in conjunction with other business leaders in alignment with company strategy and lead the implementation of capital projects

5. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies for site management.

6. Champion safety initiatives and practices, promoting a culture of safety and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.

7. Collaborate closely with the management team to align operational goals with production efficiency, quality, and scheduling needs.

8. Ensure crew structure and team member skill sets are in alignment with strategic direction of the business.

9. Schedule Production across all shifts to optimize productivity while maintaining the 24-hour daily casting cycle. Streamline interdepartmental collaboration to ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures are followed while still meeting deadlines for pouring, curing and stripping schedules, despite the challenges that arise from conditional factors.

10. Lead efforts to enact lean manufacturing methods and systems for continuous improvement and enforce sustainment of safety, quality, and productivity improvement efforts

11. Start up and/or shut down of Plant as required to ensure operational objectives are met.

12. Enforce strict compliance to Company Safety Policies and Procedures.

13. Ensure the manufactured product meets all company and industry standards and customer specifications in conjunction with quality control department

14. Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse work environment with all levels of employees

15. Commitment to building a positive culture.

16. Supervise, train and guide workers to ensure high productivity and high integrity.

17. Prepare, train, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures.

18. Travel to job site locations and other company locations when needed



Requirements, Education and Experience:

1. Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally within precast concrete or a similar industry

2. Strong understanding of production processes, plant management, safety regulations, and lean manufacturing systems

3. Demonstrated ability to manage a large team, particularly hourly employees and department supervisors.

4. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.

5. Strong communication skills to work collaboratively across departments and business units

6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other similar types of software

7. Extensive industry product and production method knowledge (Precast/Prestressed concrete)

8. Authorized to work in the U.S.

Travel:

Position may require up to 25% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position is located in a manufacturing plant & construction environment. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
