Job Description:

Schneider Electric's Global Supply Chain Transportation and Customs team has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to assume the role of Export Trade Operations Specialist in our Franklin, TN location. This individual will be responsible for NAM Export Processing and Standardization efforts. This leader will also ensure regulatory application through the supply chain as advised by the Export Center of Excellence. This role reports to the Customs & Trade Operations Manager and works alongside a team of import and export specialists.

What will you do?

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:


  • Facilitate and process export shipments by providing qualitative documents including but not limited to, electronic export information ("EEI") within defined cycle time for exports from USA and/or Canada

  • Communicate effectively with partners such as Order Management, Freight Forwarders, Consolidation Centers, Project Managers, International Affiliates and others.

  • Knowledgeable with Denied Party Screening process of comparing names of customers, business partners, facility visitors, etc., against official watch lists of individuals and entities with whom it is illegal to do business.

  • Identify and escalate reviews for potential license requirements

  • Orchestrate meetings and KPI's with Consolidators to ensure timely export shipments

  • Relationship management with consolidators and issue resolution

  • Project Management in processing proposal-based exports through data support/analysis and lean methodology

  • Participate in supply chain sustainability programs and measurement of consolidator adherence

  • Support internal risk assessment and reporting efforts

  • Ensure a sound archival process including an audit trail of the export shipment life cycle

  • Collaborate with the transportation teams to add routing lanes where necessary and participate in spot quote program for transport from USA

  • Administer international trade and compliance training as dictated by Tax and Customs

  • Provide subject-matter expertise and day-to-day, international and local guidance on relevant trade matters, including, without limitation, U.S. and international Customs/import regulations, EAR, CTPAT, and Mexico's IMMEX program. Determine when external subject matter experts are required to complement internal resources.

  • Ability to stay up to date on changes in Customs/import and export regulations and ensure the Company modifies processes, standards, metrics and reporting to comply with relevant standards and requirements.

  • Drive expansion of the use of automated systems and technology to implement controls and training.

Additionally, you should possess the following:


  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, other analytical tools a bonus

  • Working knowledge of SAP is required

  • Working knowledge of One-Source Global Trade software is required

  • Good collaborative and interpersonal skills

  • Prioritizing abilities

  • Working knowledge of incoterms

  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills


What qualifications will make you successful for this role?


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience with Export Operations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ITAR and EAR

  • Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
