Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Technical Documentation Lead to join our team in Atlanta, GA. This is an exciting opportunity to support a large, important program with one of our clients. Our ideal candidate will have 20+ years of experience in technical and design roles supporting major transportation projects and their associated design criteria. Role Accountabilities:


  • Oversee the creation of technical documents such as Concept Reports, Design Exceptions, traffic reports, and technical memos, acting as lead writer or coordinator. This includes the delegation of tasks, management of the completion of work, and compilation of input from multiple disciplines into cohesive documents.
  • Serve as the primary contact for coordinating the external review and approval process of reports pertaining to design criteria and project documentation.
  • Perform senior-level technical work and provide guidance to engineers, designers, and project managers. Manage internal and external client relationships, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead the creation, editing, and management of high-quality documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences, with expertise in planning and coordinating development processes for major project reports.
  • Possesses proven task management skills, overseeing the delivery of complex technical documents, reports, and memos to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with engineers, design teams, sub-consultants, and project managers to gather technical information and ensure accuracy.
  • Guide project teams through technical decision-making with strong time management and organizational skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Manage the documentation lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery, quality control, and content consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established Quality processes, ensuring that Quality Control (QC) is thoroughly performed, documented, and compliant with standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate as a QC reviewer for technical documents prepared by others.
  • Communicate and collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure design criteria are met and issues are resolved.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of technical reports across the program, identifying and mitigating risks or challenges.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong technical writing capabilities for creating complex reports and presentations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 20+ years' experience working in the Georgia transportation and construction industry on relevant Georgia DOT transportation design projects
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Design, Construction, and QA/QC experience on projects.
  • Proficiency in reviewing design within transportation design disciplines, including, but not limited to, planning, roadway design, traffic engineering, and environmental documentation.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu for document review and comment resolution
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with desktop applications and other relevant technical tools, including the Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint, and Adobe InDesign platform.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 25+ years' experience working in the Georgia transportation and construction industry on relevant Georgia DOT transportation design projects

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $145,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
