The Maintenance Mechanic is the equipment specialist and provides support for the operations team. The Maintenance Mechanic is familiar with all PM schedules, spare parts requirements, normal operating conditions, troubleshooting techniques, general maintenance procedures and safety requirements. The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with the Operations Team to avoid unplanned equipment downtime. Maintenance Mechanics work with the Shift Mechanics to perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities and troubleshooting services to ensure equipment is in safe and proper working condition and available for production. Maintenance Mechanics typically work day shifts, Monday-Friday, in a non-climate-controlled area.
Essential Functions
Lead activity to avoid unplanned equipment downtime in the department
Help define preventive maintenance requirements and frequency
Help define spare parts inventory and reorder systems
Communicate with the Operations Team to plan and schedule maintenance activities
Share knowledge and provide technical support and development to Shift Mechanics
Directly responsible for training new hires in areas of responsibility
Perform equipment inspections in order to drive preventive maintenance activities
Inspect, operate or test machinery to diagnose equipment malfunctions
Use blueprints, repair manuals, parts catalogs or other means to determine how to assemble, install, repair or replace machinery and equipment
Request parts needed for repairs and/or spare inventory
Help identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern
Communicate observations, feedback and suggestions on equipment performance
Secondary Functions
Master use of mechanical hand and power tools
Able to operate basic job shop equipment
Capable of satisfactory welds using Arc, MIG, and TIG welders
Capable of fabricating parts and guards for machinery
Demonstrates commitment to safety and general housekeeping

Expected to increase knowledge of buildings, grounds, infrastructure and operations

Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as assigned
Ability to climb heights, lift up to 60 lbs. and climb onto ladders
