This position is permanent, W2 position and will consist of a hybrid work schedule. The Desktop Support Specialist must reside within 2 hours of Woodlawn, MD.


Opportunity:

TAYS Inc. is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist of all levels to join our dynamic team! The Desktop Support Specialist will contribute to the maintaining of technical equipment and various projects within a federal agency. This role requires a qualified candidate with robust analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, coupled with a keen attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, modify, monitor, test, and troubleshoot personal computer hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support to maintain the availability and reliability of the company’s network, personal computers, software systems, and overall infrastructure.
  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Local Area Network (LAN) performance, security, and infrastructure components.
  • Facilitate problem resolution and provide consultation, administration, and training for technical matters related to systems, hardware, software, and infrastructure.
  • Conduct pilot testing and monitor new systems and applications following implementation to assess their impact on infrastructure.
  • Oversee software and hardware upgrades and rollouts, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Utilize the Help Desk ticketing system to manage daily workflow efficiently.
  • Escalate unresolved issues related to infrastructure and systems to senior staff or management as necessary.
  • Report weekly service desk ticket statistics and infrastructure performance metrics to management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and follow-up abilities.
  • High technical aptitude and self-motivated work ethic.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Thorough understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft BackOffice applications, along with a working knowledge of LAN networking and infrastructure management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, reliability, flexibility, and a commitment to collaborating closely with users and other support staff.
