Job Description:

Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Clinical Lead to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.

This position is responsible for the coordination and management of clinical, educational, and research activities involving the Respiratory Care Department in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), Emergency Room (E.D.), Technology Dependent Units (2W/3W), Floor Care Units (4W, 3E, 4E) and/or locations requiring advanced respiratory services.

The Clinical Lead/Specialist will be responsible for providing leadership in the hospital environment and in collaboration with interdisciplinary care teams to direct patient care and ensure optimal patient outcomes, participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations, and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.

This position has a 90% clinical patient care and 10% supervisory component responsibilities.

Essential Functions

1. Demonstrated clinical proficiency in direct patient care and is responsible for the completion of clinical competencies/mandatories.

2. Responsible for facilitating a collaborative and supportive relationship between key departments within the organization in order to achieve hospital and practice goals and objectives.

3. Maintains current knowledge of all applicable licensing, regulatory and accreditation standards. Assures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including The Joint Commission standards.

4. Participates in orientation and ongoing Respiratory Care education for Critical Care staff including respiratory therapists, nursing, ancillary therapies, and all providers.

5. In coordination with Clinical Instructors, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates In-service and educational programs for the technical and professional staff with the Medical Director of Respiratory Care and Management of Respiratory Care.

6. Participates and regularly reports on continuous quality improvement process. Designs, develops, implements educational tools for clinicians or medical staff, based upon services and quality improvement monitoring,

7. Attends and participates with assigned unit's operational and quality meetings as a representative of the Respiratory Care Department.

8. Performs as subject matter expert in the development and periodic update of policies and procedures as well as staff competencies.

9. Assists in the development and completion of research projects that involve the Respiratory Care Department and/or the assigned unit medical team members.

10. Participates in the evaluation of new respiratory care products and procedures.

11. This position also includes all the functions of a respiratory therapist that this position supports.

12. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Graduate of COAARC approved Respiratory Care Program; Bachelor degree OR currently enrolled in school with plan to complete Bachelor degree within 3 years

Required Licensure

1. Active DE State Division of Professional Regulation Respiratory Care Practitioner License

2. Active NBRC- RRT Credential

3. Active AARC membership

4. Active completion of BLS and PALS

Neonatal-Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential preferred.

One to three years of experience required.
