Network Technician - 60% Travel with Mankato, MN Base
Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Network Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LAN and WAN technologies across all remote company locations. Key duties include traveling to remote sites to establish new network connections while adhering to biosecurity protocols. Additional responsibilities involve maintaining and troubleshooting alarm systems, phone lines, and other connectivity solutions.
This is a permanent/direct hire position which will involve 60% travel to various company sites, either with company car (or gas card) or via company plane based in Mankato, MN. There will be opportunity for remote work when not traveling. Target compensation range is $29-32.50/hour plus overtime.
Candidates must be located within regular commuting distance of Mankato, MN, have a clean driving record, and be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
Key Responsibilities
Install standardized network infrastructure, including wireless access points, security devices, and cabling, for LAN and WAN across geographically diverse remote sites.
Troubleshoot and resolve system failures and network bottlenecks to ensure optimal performance at each site.
Set up and maintain standardized alarm and phone lines (both VOIP and POTS).
Design and implement computer networks, connections, and cabling.
Diagnose and address issues within LAN infrastructure, including software configuration and testing.
Repair and maintain hardware, including peripheral devices.
Assess and monitor network performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
Schedule upgrades and maintenance activities to minimize disruptions to business operations.
Provide technical guidance and training to colleagues on network systems.
Collaborate with vendors to procure necessary equipment for network and system needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with diverse audiences, including non-technical personnel.
Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-focused approach.
Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, anticipate potential challenges, and respond swiftly.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in a corporate IT environment.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCENT/CCNA are advantageous.
Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, and network technologies.
Experience in Level 1 and/or Level 2 support (using Freshservice or similar ITSM tools).
Proficiency in networking, including routing and switching (Cisco, Meraki) and wireless technologies.
Familiarity with end-user devices, including Windows, Android, and iOS.
Experience with physical security or biosecurity programs and tools is beneficial.
