Description: Our client is currently seeking a Face to Face Sign Language Interpreter
Sign Language Interpreter Contract Role
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Provide accurate and timely interpretation of spoken English into ASL, and vice versa, in various educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Ensure that all communication is interpreted effectively and in a culturally sensitive manner.
Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and students to develop and implement strategies to support the academic success of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who require interpreting services.
Provide professional development and training to school staff on deaf culture, ASL, and effective communication strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language interpreting or a related field.
Certified American Sign Language Interpreter (CASLI) or equivalent certification.
Proven experience interpreting in educational settings.
Strong knowledge of American Sign Language grammar, syntax, and culture.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to providing inclusive educational experiences for all students.
Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
