Annual Salary Range: $66,096 - $134,310


*Salary commensurate with education and experience.




Job Summary




As an Employee & Labor Relations Specialist at BPMI, you will perform moderately complex critical business functions to support company operations in areas including, but not limited to employee and labor relations, performance management, leave management, Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Programs, and special projects. This role will provide guidance and support to management and employees, conduct investigations, interpret labor laws and regulations, negotiate collective bargaining agreements, and develop strategies to promote positive employee relations. You will collaborate with HR and business operations to develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with labor laws and meet organizational needs and objectives.




Essential Duties:






  • Investigate complex employee and labor relations concerns by utilizing a deep understanding of laws, regulations, company policy and collective bargaining agreement.


  • Make recommendations to leadership regarding disciplinary action related to substantiated claims.


  • Administer the collective bargaining agreement and dur processes. Represent the organization in contract negotiations and grievance proceedings with the labor union.


  • Develop or modify HR policies, processes, and practices to meet the needs of the organization. Drive the uniform and equitable application of HR policies.


  • Research and analyze new employment-related laws and regulations, leading HR practices, and recommend policy changes to ensure compliance and effectiveness.


  • Lead, build, and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with all levels of company management to develop business solutions, while providing counsel and expert knowledge.


  • Provide coaching and training for managers on leadership skills.


  • Consult with legal counsel regarding complex employee relations issues and EEOC charges.


  • Advise on FMLA, ADA accommodations.


  • Manage the Performance Improvement Process and outcomes.


  • Serve as project lead in the preparation of statistical studies, surveys and reports, as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:






  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Employee and Labor Relations, Business Management, or related business field, from an accredited college or university.


  • A minimum of four (4) years of employee relations experience; at least two (2) of those years of experience working in Labor Relations.


  • Twelve (12) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.


  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.






Preferred Job Requirements:






  • PHR or SHRM certification.


  • Labor relations background with experience in negotiations, leave management, and performance management.


  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment laws.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex and/or private information.


  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management.


  • Software skills including use of Microsoft Office, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle.
